  • 30/01/2012 - Successful GM Kim Poomsae Seminar

"I thought this seminar was the most professional and worthwhile I have attended in 38 years of Taekwondo training!"

These were the sentiments expressed by Head Instructor Russell Trainor who was one 155 Instructors, Coaches and Athletes to attended the Poomsae seminars and camp conducted by Grand Master Kyung Chan Kim. Grand Master Kim is the WTF's Poomsae Committee Vice-Chairman, the Poomsae Referee Committee Chairman and the International Poomsae Seminar Teacher.

The seminars and camp were conducted as part of Taekwondo Australia's Technical Development Program and comprised of six days of seminars and camp for head instructors, instructors, coaches and athletes in Melbourne and a one day seminar for instructors, coaches and athletes in Sydney. The events were attended by members from six states and territories across Australia.

The intense sessions comprised Grand Master Kim leading attendees step-by-step through all the forms, then workshopping through the scoring processes highlighting where and how deductions should be awarded. The workshopping also included practical judging session with several instructors performing and being judged by their peers and Mr Kim adjudicating the scores and critique of the techniques. The workshop was followed up by further poomase training under the masterful eye of Grand Master Kim.

The Poomase Camp also put coaches and instructors through the required international junior colour belt patterns to ensure that coaches and instructors are up to date with all the required competitve patterns.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Grand Master Kim presented attendees with a signed certificate and presented several instructors with a Kukkiwon flag for their dojang.
